Getaway to Baltimore: Jellyfish, Orioles and polar bears, oh my

By Aaron Bialer and Angel Bruno/Life-Wire News

When you go to Baltimore, expect great things. In fact, you might even leave speechless.

On a weekend in July, Lifestyles for the Disabled went to the Maryland city to enjoy what the city had to offer and have fun with friends. Camden Yards, home of the Baltimore Orioles; the National Aquarium and The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore were the highlights.

We arrived in Baltimore on Friday afternoon, went to dinner and headed for Oriole Park at Camden Yards to see the Orioles play the Tampa Bay Rays. The hometown team lost 16 to 4.

The zoo and aquarium were shockingly good. It was amazing to see new things.

At the National Aquarium there were so many different kinds of jellyfish. They seemed like they came from a different earth. They seemed like aliens. We also saw sharks and frogs, some of them poisonous, and a turtle that had only three legs.

At the Maryland Zoo, we saw a lion, giraffes, a rhino and eagles. And check out the cool polar bear that really seemed to like us.

Baltimore is three to four hours from New York by car. We traveled as a group by bus. But if driving is not an option, both bus and Amtrak train service can get you there.
