Sherlock Holmes Makes a Cameo at the Vatican

With his new Sherlock Holmes adventure, The Vatican Cameos, Richard T. Ryan gives us not just a great mystery but sheds light on an intriguing aspect of Italian history. The action alternates between the Victorian era of Holmes and his assistant Dr. Watson who travel to Vatican City and the time of Michelangelo who is working on commissions from the Pope.
“A reference to the Vatican cameos is contained at the beginning of The Hound of the vatican-cameosBaskervilles and that segued into another tale of the Borgias in the story of the Black Pearl [in The Adventure of the Six Napoleans]. Since we had a Borgia pope and Vatican cameos I joined the two,”  Ryan told Anthony DiFato, aka Mr. Mystery, in a recent interview.
A Westerleigh resident, Ryan, who is also a Staten Island Advance editor, visited Mr. Mystery in the Lifestyle for the Disabled Concord facility in St. Sylvester’s.
“A good read, it is a well thought out, intricately plotted and thoroughly researched. I would recommend it. It gets the Mr. Mystery seal of approval,” says DiFato.
