Honoring Veterans on Memorial Day

The students of St. Adalbert’s honored veterans with a Memorial Day Ice Cream Social on May 26 at their school in Elm Park. A great lunch spread and sundaes welcomed veterans from Korea, Viet Nam, The Gulf Wars, and even Grenada. Students in patriotic costumes greeted their heroes and listened to their stories.
Life-Wire News Service reporter Anthony DiFato observed, “they were all humble saying that they didn’t do much.  Maybe on their own, but as a unit the accomplished great things.”
The auditorium was decorated with a lot of red, white, and blue balloons on the tables and in great arches above the doors.  All soldiers who served our country were gathered together to share their memories and honor those who were lost in war.
